Xiaomi Redmi S2 Officially launched With an 16MP Selfie Camera & Snapdragon 625

After so many leaks, Xiaomi has finally unveiled the Redmi S2 in China. The smartphone has an AI portrait mode and AI beautification mode for a 16MP front camera. It is one of the few phones from Xiaomi which comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

The Redmi S2 will sport a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and HD+ resolution. The smartphone also features Xiaomi’s own Xiao AI voice assistant which will be exclusive to the Chinese market. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage which is also expandable via micro SD card.

The Redmi S2 packs dual rear camera set-up consisting of a 12MP and a 5MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. On the front, there is a 16MP shooter for selfies along with a LED selfie flash. It is a dual sim device with a dedicated MicroSD card slot. It is backed up by a 3080mAh battery.

The Redmi S2 is priced at CNY 999 (approximately Rs. 10,600) in China for 3GB+32GB variant. The price of 4GB+64GB version is CNY 1,299 (roughly Rs. 13,800) in China. The device will come in Champagne Gold, Platinum Silver and Rose Gold colour options. It will go on sale in China starting May 17. As of now, there is no info about the Indian launch.
