One of the most popular smartphones in 2017 was Mi A1. It was the first phone from Xiaomi which runs on stock Android under Android One program. Now a report from XDA Developers said that the new Mi A2 smartphone is under works and it could be based on newly launched Mi 6X.
Two new devices are leaked by XDA Developers which are codenamed as “jasmine_sprout” and “daisy_sprout”. The sprout suffix indicates that the new Xiaomi devices could be Android One devices as the Mi A1 had a codename “tissot_sprout” where “sprout” indicates that it will be a part of the Android One program.
The Xiaomi phone codenamed “jasmine_sprout” is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 just like the Mi 6X. The information is confirmed by analyzing the build. Profile but the full dump of the device’s firmware is not available yet.
The successor of Mi A1 (probably Mi A2) might run on stock Android 8.1 OS which also might support Project Treble. Xiaomi’s CEO also confirmed that they will launch more than one Android One phones one from the Redmi series as well.
Another smartphone codenamed as “daisy_sprout” will also be an Android One phone which could be the newly leaked Redmi S2. It will be a budget device which will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and pack dual rear camera setup which will be the combination of a 12MP and 5MP sensor.
According to some anonymous source, Xiaomi is planning to launch two new smartphones in May 2018 which will be the Android One phones. Most likely we will soon be going to see the Mi A2 and Redmi S2 in the Indian market. But this information is not official so we advise you to take it a pinch of salt.
