Realme, a sub-brand of Oppo has officially launched its first smartphone in India. The company is partnered exclusively with Amazon ( online only strategy ). “Realme” sounds very close to “Redmi” which is a smart move by Oppo which might disguise people with Redmi.
Realme 1 has flooded with many features which require competing with the likes of Xiaomi, Honor, Asus, and many other brands. The phone offers a 6-Inch 1080P Full HD+ IPS display with 84.8% screen to body ratio. The Realme smartphone has a unique symmetrical design and glossy back. It runs on Android Oreo 8,1 on top of Oppo’s own Color OS 5.0. I would have preferred stock Android any day just like Asus did with Max Pro M1.
The Oppo branded phone powers a 2 GHz MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. AI plays a key role in this smartphone, it has a 13-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera with AI beauty. Under the hood, it packs a 3410 mAh battery with AI battery management system. It doesn’t support fingerprint sensor which might be a deal breaker for many. This smartphone will compete with Redmi 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, and Honor 9 Lite.
